"The entire process of making my large canvases, quartets, and paper works/chalk drawings and admixture rubbings becomes a dynamic engagement of replication and innovation.
The aerial tableaus presented in my newest works -- the quartets -- are significant inhabited dreaming places, characters, sites, and/or memories that have marked the personal travels in my lifetime. They are informed by the experiential process of my artmaking and by the very physicality of creating veils of luminosity with layering, staining, brushing; and by delineating territories of color and defining their surfaces with mysteriously symbolic markings.
It is the stillness that is sometimes silent that I find engaging in my paintings. And then it is the slow effect that can haunt and obsess."
