Statement from the artist on Aerial Tableaus

"In the five years I lived in New Mexico, a complementary fit emerged between artistic self and inspiring visual resources available. My works have already embraced the stimuli from the flora, the dust, the sky, and the dry river chasms of ancient ocean beds. The overhanging stained cliffs of Canyon de Chelly resonate with the gusting winds of the great plains as spirits of Chaco break the eternal silence. The Capitan range, daily a presence on the Roswell horizon, engaged my mind’s eye and has become a constant as imagery revealed in my work. The entire process of making my large canvases and paper paintings/chalk drawings and admixture rubbings becomes immersed in this complex engagement of replication and innovation as naturally as all rivers flow to the sea.
